(1) Hi! Thanks so much for your inquiry. Unfortunately (unless you’re a bat or cat), much of what's being sold in today's botanicas under the name "bat's heart and cat's eye" are fakes. We can provide you with “alleged” bat’s heart & cat’s eye but can’t guarantee they’ll be the real thing. In general, if a practitioner needs these items (and with so many fresh herbs and roots available, most opt to substitute and spare the life of an animal) they often obtain them themselves.

Mostly, older, "countryside magick" recipes call for these obscure "witch's pot" items. The idea was that these ingredients were plentiful in the country, but challenging to obtain. It's the commitment to the magickal purpose that is essential & this commitment is partially established through the obtaining of "hard to get" items like these. Their acquisition itself is a part of the focus. Today, a difficult item to obtain for a "city dweller" could be anything from lodestone to a High John the Conqueror Root.

You may well know all this already, if so, I apologize for droning on and on! There is a point to all this though. Focus on your purpose -- if you find yourself unable to get the real items from somewhere else and don't have the heart to make the kill & extraction necessary for acquiring them yourself, I can offer some substitutions if you let me know what purpose you're trying to achieve.
